Movin' On Her Own

Well, it's official... Amélia can crawl! It's been about 3 weeks since she really started inch worming and as of Wednesday the 26th she can crawl. She motored down the hall to see Mommy and Papa while they were doing laundry. She has discovered that moving is fun and that she doesn't need Mommy and Papa to carry her everywhere.
Amélia can even pull herself up (she was starting that BEFORE she had started crawling). She used Papa's hip to pull herself up while he was sitting on the floor. And is currently trying to use Mommy's computer chair. LoL
Today the family is going to Edmonton to visit with Papa's family. Mealie will impress everyone with her crawling...

Weekly Update

For Easter Sunday the family made the trip to the farm. Spent the afternoon visiting with grandma (and greatgrandma Sweeney), while Papa hung out with Grandpa and the uncles. Amélia wore a pretty dress but unfortunately only wanted to be motoring around on the floor, so on went the pants. The Easter Bunny brought Mealie bubbles, a yellow ball, and lots of other goodies.
Then on Wednesday the family picked up the new car. Bright red 2005 Wave... it's a standard so Mommy's not doing much driving. LoL Along with the new car Amélia got a new "big girl" car seat. It's for 5-80lbs so it will be rear facing until she needs front facing and then it can act like a booster seat! Mealie seems to enjoy the new chair.
Friday was Amélia's 7 month birthday... it's hard to believe she's already over half a year old. They grow soooo quickly. Also on Friday Amélia and Mommy went for a walk around Mirror Lake (while Papa was in physio) and stopped to play at a small park. Mommy was smart & brought a camera to show everyone pictures of Amélia playing in the swing.
Yesterday (Saturday) Auntie Liane and her bf came to visit Amélia. Mommy made supper & dessert and everyone sat around visiting. It was a nice time. Later, after Aunt Liane and Brett left Uncle Devin and his friend came over to play video games. They got to the house late and then after 2 hours of fighting with the networking and not succeeding Devin and Derik went home. It's too bad it didn't work out better but at least Amélia got to see the boys. Derik is a favorite with Mealie, she always likes seeing him.

New Car = Red 2005 Wave

Amélia loves to eat, unfortunately she also likes to feed herself which results in scenes simillar to the photo on the left. She loves to stand, jokingly we've tried to get her to walk and we all believe that if she was strong enough she'd already be running. LOL Mommy helps Mealie walk to Papa (picture on top).
Amélia wants to crawl, really badly. Most of today while she was on the floor she kept pulling herself onto her hands and knees, she wouldn't go anywhere but would be on her hands and knees rocking back and forth. It was exciting for everyone, Mealie just smiled and Mommy couldn't help but giggle.
Mommy's friend, named Dawn, who's a lactation consultant sent Amélia a tshirt that reads "Breastmilk Like No Udder". Mommy thought that was too cute and Mealie will be wearing that shirt tomorrow.
In the next week or so we will be driving a different car. Got a great deal on a Pontiac Wave, although Mommy dislikes red vehicles the price was right. After we get the new car we're getting a new seat for Amélia. This one will be a "grow with you" seat, so hopefully it will last her for awhile.

The Car Graveyard

Went to the "auto graveyard" yesterday. Mommy was stunned, she didn't expect to see a big car smudge on the cement baracade where the accident was. The car is no longer, but thankfully Papa is ok. He's kind of stiff & sore, but he could have been hurt a lot worse so we're all happy that he is ok.

Grandma Sweeney says that Amélia doesn't have too long until she'll be crawling. Mommy's friend Joan says maybe 3 weeks and that Mommy should start baby proofing now!
We had a busy Sunday; we visted the Sweeney farm. The weather was nice and it was sunny. Papa and the uncles watched Wrestlemania. Amélia showed Grandma how she can eat beans like a big girl, and how she can mash cookies all through her hair and on the highchair.

Amélia is growing so fast, Mommy can't believe how strong she is. We are sure she's on her way to crawling, she's such a busy body!

More Amélia

Amélia likes the camera, everytime the camera is brought out she poses. LOL The picture on the left was taken on the 21st of March - her 6 month bday. The picture with the hat was while Mommy was sorting clothes for Kidswap.ca - too cute not to take a picture of it.

She's taken to thinking she's really tough now too. She likes to stand while being held, and she trys really had to crawl. She is fast at inchworming and can scoot all over the place. Although rolling is Amélia's main method of movement she can push herself forward to get at toys (and soothers) infront of her. Amélia likes to show people she's a big girl by drinking out of Mommy & Papa's glasses of water; she's even taken a liking to drinking from sippy cups. She's attempted to feed herself a couple times but that resulted in Mommy being slopped with pureéd beans. Last night she showed Papa that she can even open her babywipes container on her own. Amélia keeps everyone busy, it's been commented on anyone who has met her... now Mommy is getting worried about when Mealie starts to walk. LOL
